Estimated prices from Indianapolis
Sedan on an open carrier:
- Indianapolis to Orlando — about 960 miles, estimated $680
- Indianapolis to Tampa — about 985 miles, estimated $695
- Indianapolis to Dallas — about 895 miles, estimated $630
- Indianapolis to Houston — about 1,015 miles, estimated $725

- Indianapolis to Los Angeles — about 2,110 miles, estimated $1,310
- Indianapolis to Chicago — about 195 miles, estimated $275
Estimates based on typical carrier rates for each route. Your final price depends on the exact addresses, vehicle and dates — you’ll see it after a quick contact step, and Price Lock protects it when you sign.
Larger vehicles cost more than a sedan, enclosed adds $450 per vehicle, and a car that doesn’t run adds $150. For the Florida and Texas trips above, most trips of this length take about 3–5 days on the road once the car is picked up; your dispatcher gives you an honest pickup window. Your own ZIP codes go in the calculator.
From the suburbs
The price follows the distance between your two addresses, so a pickup in the suburbs changes it only a little. Estimated, sedan on an open carrier:
- Carmel to Sarasota — about 1,050 miles, estimated $750
- Fishers to Fort Lauderdale — about 1,185 miles, estimated $850
- Greenwood to Orlando — about 950 miles, estimated $670
We arrange pickup across the metro: Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville and Westfield in Hamilton County; Greenwood in Johnson County; Plainfield, Avon and Brownsburg in Hendricks County; and the rest of Marion County inside and outside I-465.
Pickup in the city
A full-size car carrier is a long truck. On a narrow downtown street, in a tight apartment complex or in a subdivision with HOA rules, it may not be able to stop safely at your door. In that case the carrier may meet you at a nearby safe location — often a wider road or a large parking lot close to a main road. Tell us about gates, parking garages or access hours when you book, and we pass them to the carrier.
Where the trucks run
Indianapolis is where Indiana’s interstates meet. I-65, I-69, I-70 and I-74 all connect to the I-465 beltway around the city:
- South to Florida and the Gulf, I-65 leads to Louisville and Nashville; I-74 leads southeast to Cincinnati and I-75.
- West to Texas and the West Coast, I-70 heads toward St. Louis, and I-69 now runs south to Evansville.
- North to Chicago, I-65 runs up through Lafayette to Gary.
The carrier picks the road, based on all the cars on the truck. Your price is set by distance, not by the road.
Auctions in and around Indianapolis
Bought a car at a local auction? We can arrange a carrier to collect it from the yard. The big ones around Indianapolis:
- Manheim Indianapolis — on the southeast side, near I-465 and I-74
- ADESA Indianapolis — in Plainfield, west of the city
- IAA Indianapolis — on the south side
- Copart Indianapolis — on the northwest side, plus a Copart yard in Cicero to the north
Tell us which yard the car is in when you book. Buying for a dealership? See auction transport for business.
Snowbirds from central Indiana
Fall is the busy season for the trip south: most snowbirds ship between October and December, and the weeks around Thanksgiving fill up. Southbound prices are often higher then. A quote is held for 7 days; after you sign, if the carrier’s rate climbs before pickup, Price Lock has us cover up to $200 per vehicle. The full route guide: Indiana to Florida, and for the spring, Florida to Indiana.
Open or enclosed
Most cars from Indianapolis ride on an open carrier. For a classic, an exotic or a race-prepped car you’d rather keep out of the weather, choose an enclosed trailer, +$450 per vehicle. Either way, the assigned carrier’s cargo insurance covers the car — at least $100,000. Tell us before booking if your car is worth more.
The carrier, checked
We verify the carrier on every load: an SMS to their FMCSA phone, insurance from the agent, the driver’s location at pickup, and a VIN-plate check against the carrier’s insured vehicles. See how our verification works. You get the driver’s name and phone once your car is picked up.
Nothing is due to get a quote or book. A $150 deposit goes on your card once a carrier is assigned — part of your total. The balance is paid at pickup on the same card, or to the driver at delivery with pay on delivery (cash, Zelle, Venmo or cashier’s check).
